The third-seeded Volynets, a 19-year-old professional from Walnut Creek in the San Francisco Bay Area, fell to Kimmi Hance, a UCLA signee from nearby Torrance, Calif., 7-6 (3), 3-6 [10-6] in the second and final round of qualifying.
The ninth-seeded Sanchez, a 31-year-old product of Modesto, Calif., lost to wild card Sarah Hamner, a South Carolina signee from Boca Raton, Fla., 3-6, 6-1 [10-4] in the last round of qualifying. It was Sanchez's second singles match since last March.
Meanwhile, the 18-year-old Zamarripa twins, University of Texas signees from Saint Helena in the Napa Valley, succumbed to Americans Catherine Harrison and Sophia Whittle 5-7, 6-3 [18-16] in the first round of the doubles main draw.
Francesca Di Lorenzo of the United States and Sanchez are scheduled to meet Olga Govortsova of Belarus and Jovana Jovic (formerly Jaksic), a 27-year-old Serbian living in Sacramento, Calif., on Thursday in the quarterfinals.
Di Lorenzo and Sanchez eliminated third-seeded Usue Arconada of the United States and Conny Perrin of Switzerland 6-2, 6-2. Govortsova and Jovic topped Americans Hailey Baptiste and Maria Mateas 7-6 (5), 7-5.
UTR Pro Tennis Series — Two players from San Jose improved to 2-0 in round-robin play in Newport Beach, Calif.
Vivian Ovrootsky, 16, routed Julia Rosenqvist, a 6-foot-1 (1.85-meter) senior at the University of California, Berkeley from Sweden, 6-0, 6-3 in the $25,000 singles-only tournament.
Hind Abdelouahid, a former Saint Mary's standout, defeated Priya Nelson, 15, of Sacramento 1-6, 6-2, 6-2. Nelson fell to 1-1.
