No. 13 Cal men shut out in National Indoors

   The 13th-ranked Cal men lost to No. 5 Illinois 4-0 on Friday in the first round of the ITA National Men's Team Indoor Championship in Chicago.
   The University of Illinois is a two-hour drive south from Chicago.
   Cal freshmen Billy Griffith of Fresno and J.T. Nishimura of San Jose lost in straight sets at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively.
   The Bears (6-1) will play Columbia in the consolation bracket today at 4:30 p.m. PST.
   Meanwhile, No. 3 Virginia routed No. 17 Texas Christian 4-0. Cavaliers freshman Collin Altamirano of Sacramento won at No. 3 doubles with Mitchell Frank but did not play singles.
   Virginia (6-0) will meet No. 10 Baylor (5-1) today in the quarterfinals. The Bears upset No. 6 Duke 4-1.
