Ex-Stanford star Klahn reaches ATP main draw

Former Stanford star Bradley Klahn, who turned professional only three weeks ago, reached the main draw of an ATP World Tour tournament Monday.
The 2010 NCAA singles champion, who completed his eligibility in May, defeated fellow American Alex Kuznetsov 7-6 (5), 7-6 (2) in the final round of qualifying in the Farmers Classic in Los Angeles. It will be Klahn's third singles match in a Grand Slam or ATP tournament. As a wild card, he lost to 20th-seeded Sam Querrey in four sets in the first round of the 2010 U.S. Open and to second-seeded Gael Monfils 6-3, 6-2 in the opening round of last year's SAP Open in San Jose.
Lorenzi, 30, lost to eventual champion Novak Djokovic 6-2, 6-0, 6-0 in the first round of this year's Australian Open.
