Bellis advances to girls doubles semis in French Open

At 15, CiCi Bellis has a good chance to play in a Grand Slam final.
The seventh-seeded pair of Bellis, from Atherton in the San Francisco Bay Area, and Marketa Vondrousova of the Czech Republic dominated unseeded Simona Heinova of the Czech Republic and Anastasiya Komardina of Russia 6-2, 6-0 on Thursday to reach the girls doubles semifinals in the French Open.
Bellis and Vondrousova, a 14-year-old left-hander, have not lost more than two games in a set in their three matches in Paris. They will meet unseeded Luisa Stefani of Brazil and Renata Zarazua of Mexico today.
Stefani and Zarazua edged unseeded Bianca Turati of Italy and Wushuang Zheng of China 4-6, 6-2 [10-4].
In the other semifinal, fourth-seeded Naiktha Bains of Australia and Tornado Alicia Black of Boca Raton, Fla., will face unseeded Romanians Ioana Ducu and Ioana Rosca.
Vondrousova also remains alive in girls singles. She defeated Bellis in the third round and will play eighth-seeded Darya Kasatkina of Russia today in the semifinals.
