Gold River men win USTA League national title

   The Spare Time Indoor Tennis Center men from Gold River in the Sacramento area won the USTA League Adult 55 & Over 9.0 National Championships in Surprise, Ariz., the USTA Northern California Section announced last month.
   Gold River defeated Laguna Hills, Calif., in the semifinals and Houston in the final, both 2-1.
   Gold River consists of Jack Walker (captain), Arnie Dun, Clayton Beckwith, Donald Blessen, Zoran Popazivanov, Kurt Chan, Louis Carlin, Kris Louis Duff and Kendall Homer. 
   Established in 1980, the USTA League has grown from 13,000 participants in a few parts of the country to more than 820,000 players across the nation, making it the world's largest recreational tennis league.
