Sixth-seeded Hugo Hashimoto of San Jose and Benjamin Kittay of Potomac, Md., edged second-seeded Jack Anthrop of Orlando, Fla., and Max Fardanesh of Albany in the San Francisco Bay Area 3-6, 7-6 (2) [10-8] today to win the boys 16 doubles title at the Eddie Herr International Junior Championship in Bradenton, Fla.
Hashimoto and Kittay won a match tiebreaker for the second consecutive day. They topped unseeded Aleksandr Kalinin of Belarus and Mark Lajal of Estonia 7-6 (3), 6-7 (5) [10-5] in Friday's semifinals.
Four of Anthrop and Fardanesh's five matches went to match tiebreakers.
Past competitors in the Eddie Herr include former world No. 1 players Roger Federer, Andy Roddick, Maria Sharapova, Jelena Jankovic and Ana Ivanovic. Herr, the father of international junior tennis, died in 2000 at 93.

Brooksby, 18, loses; NorCal juniors in Herr doubles final

Brooksby, the reigning USTA boys 18 national champion, fell to unseeded Maxime Cressy of France 6-3, 6-4 in the $25,000 Waco (Texas) Futures. Brooksby, who's headed to Texas Christian, stunned top-seeded Michael Redlicki in the second round.
Cressy, a 6-foot-7 (2.01-meter) senior at UCLA, will meet unseeded Michael Geerts of Belgium in Saturday's final. Geerts, who completed his eligibility at Arizona State in May, dismissed unseeded Jacob Dunbar, a former University of Richmond star from Medina, Ohio, 6-3, 6-3.
Eddie Herr -- A Northern Californian will win the boys 16 doubles title in the Eddie Herr International Junior Championship in Bradenton, Fla.
Second-seeded Jack Anthrop of Orlando, Fla., and Max Fardanesh of Albany in the San Francisco Bay Area will play sixth-seeded Hugo Hashimoto of San Jose and Benjamin Kittay of Potomac, Md. Both teams advanced to the final by winning match tiebreakers 10-5.
In the boys 12 singles semifinals, sixth-seeded Maximus Dussault of Leesburg, Va., edged top-seeded Rudy Quan of Roseville in the Sacramento area 5-7, 6-2 [10-6].
Quan also lost in the doubles quarterfinals with Andrew Rundle of Simpsonville, S.C. Seeded first, they fell to sixth-seeded Asror Ismoilov of Omaha, Neb., and Atakan Karahan of Turkey 7-6 (3), 2-6 [10-3].

Bay Area's Inoue upsets seed in Junior Orange Bowl
Hina Inoue of Saratoga in the San Francisco Bay Area ousted ninth-seeded Elaine Chervinsky of Boca Raton, Fla., 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 today in the second round of the girls 14s in the Junior Orange Bowl at Coral Gables, Fla.
Inoue and Vivan Ovrootsky of San Jose reached the doubles semifinals of the 14s in the Eddie Herr International Championships two weeks ago in Bradenton, Fla.
Ovrootsky won the Eddie Herr 14s in singles. Seeded fourth in that age group in the Junior Orange Bowl, Ovrootsky dispatched Danielle Tuhten of Canada 6-2, 6-3.
Seventh-seeded Priya Nelson of Sacramento advanced in the girls 12s, beating Meera Jesudason of Berwyn, Pa., 6-4, 6-1.
Max Fardanesh of Albany and ninth-seeded Ria Bhakta of Los Gatos lost by retirement in the boys 14s and girls 12s, respectively. Fardanesh withdrew from his match against Pedro Boscardin Dias of Brazial, and Sayaka Ishi of Japan defeated Bhakta 6-4, 2-0, retired.

Riffice beats ex-Roseville neighbor in Easter Bowl
Sam Riffice and Keenan Mayo grew up a few houses apart in the Sacramento, Calif., suburb of Roseville.
Riffice, seeded No. 5, defeated Mayo 6-2, 6-4 Thursday to reach the boys 18 quarterfinals in the prestigious Easter Bowl in Indian Wells, Calif.
Riffice, 17, is ranked No. 1 nationally in the 18s, and Mayo, 15, is No. 32 in the 16s. They train at the USTA centers in Boca Raton, Fla., and Carson, Calif., respectively.
Riffice, who will face third-seeded Nathan Ponwith of Scottsdale, Ariz., was the runner-up to Taylor Fritz in last year's Easter Bowl 18s. Fritz, 18, has skyrocketed to No. 79 in the men's world rankings since turning pro last August.
Meanwhile, No. 4 seed Michaela Gordon of Saratoga, Calif., advanced to the girls 18 quarterfinals with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Sofia Sewing of Doral, Fla.
Gordon, 16, will play No. 8 Alexandra Sanford of Westerville, Ohio. Sanford, 17, reached the quarterfinals of the $100,000 Dow Corning Tennis Classic in Midland, Mich., in February as a qualifier.
No. 13 Elie Douglas of McKinney, Texas, held off No. 8 Emma Higuchi of Los Angeles 6-4, 7-6 (8). Higuchi plans to enroll at Stanford in the fall.
In the girls 16 semifinals, No. 7 Angelica Blake of Boca Raton, Fla., routed No. 6 Rachel Eason of Union City, Calif., 6-1, 6-2.
No. 11 Max Fardanesh of Albany, Calif., won the boys 12 title, knocking off No. 1 Samuel Landau of Los Angeles 6-4, 6-2.
