Two seeds, both semifinalists last year, fall in Aptos

   This is more like it.
After all eight seeds reached the second round of the $100,000 Comerica Bank Challenger, which is notorious for upsets, two of the four in action on Wednesday lost at the Seascape Sports Club in Aptos. Both victims were semifinalists last year.
Argentina's Juan Ignacio Londero, who will turn 21 on Aug. 15, ousted third-seeded Evgeny Donskoy of Russia 6-4, 6-2. Also, Rhyne Williams of Boca Raton, Fla., downed seventh-seeded Farrukh Dustov of Uzbekistan 6-4, 7-6 (3).
Dustov reached the final of last week's $100,000 Vancouver Challenger, losing to Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus. Baghdatis, the runner-up in the 2006 Australian Open, is seeded second in Aptos.
In Wednesday's featured evening match, fourth-seeded Go Soeda of Japan avenged to a loss to Alex Kuznetsov of Tampa, Fla., in the 2006 final with a 6-3, 6-4 victory.
Considering players who didn't return to Aptos this year, all eight quarterfinalists will be different than in 2013.
